VACANCY OVERVIEW: Full time apprenticeship for a construction plant engineer to commission, service and repair of piling equipment encompassing hydraulic, electrical and mechanical practices. In-house operation of plant. General yard duties. Maintaining spare part stores. Occasionally assisting Service Engineer on site within the UK.
COMPANY OVERVIEW: North Equipment Ltd is based in Oundle, Northants with workshop and service facilities covering a range of Comacchio CH rotary and CFA piling rigs with weights from 40 ton to 65 ton. We are appointed agents for Comacchio Heavy Equipment s.r.l. for the UK and the Republic of Ireland. In addition, we are pleased to offer a fleet of CFA and rotary piling rigs for hire as well as providing a base for the service and repair of piling rigs of various makes. We are a small dynamic team who are dedicated to providing flexibility in meeting customer needs whilst placing emphasis on cost, reliability and longevity.
HOURS OF EMPLOYMENT: Monday to Friday 08:30-17:30. 40 hours + 5 hours paid lunch breaks.
DESIRED SKILLS: Interest in mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems. Solid IT skills. Methodical approach to solving problems. Good communication skills. Basic knowledge of workshop tools and equipment. Skills in mechanics would be advantageous but not a necessity.
PERSONAL QUALITIES: Able to work as part of a team or under own initiative. Sense of humour. Dynamic. Willingness to learn & train. Driven. Mature. Good timekeeping. Flexible. Able to apply orderly work practises.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 5 x GCSE’s grades A-C including Maths & English but all grades will be considered.
FUTURE PROSPECTS: To become a fully qualified Field Service Engineer with opportunities to work & train abroad.
THINGS TO CONSIDER: It is intended to provide training at Bircham Newton on a block release basis which will entail living away from home. There may be occasional on site visits which could attract additional hours outside of those of a normal working day. Applicants should possess a desire to acquire a full UK driving licence when eligible to do so. Potential applicants will be invited to complete a period of work placement to determine their suitability for the apprentice vacancy.
